Jamie Durie set an astonishing standard for himself when building his family home: a modern, luxurious house built with sustainability at the forefront. The end result is one of architectural tranquility; a home built for quiet and cozy living.

Putting Our Best Green Foot Forward
Five years of planning and researching the most eco-friendly options has led this project to become the benchmark for sustainable home builds. It was during this time that Jamie reached out to EZ Concept. Exploring the available range with our team, Jamie learnt about how a contemporary design could be achieved with local manufacturing and sustainability in mind. Based in Croydon, Victoria, EZ Concept was a one stop shop for openings and finishings and provided the expertise in creating modern interiors. These systems seamlessly integrated into Jamie’s design and vision, especially with the custom options provided by our team.
EZ Concept has long been focused on the impact we have on our environment and local Australian communities. In conjunction with the Australian Made Certification, EZ Concept’s use of at least 20% recycled steel materials made for an ideal partnership on this project. By embracing steel systems, Jamie was able to use a more sustainable resource. Less materials on-site are required when working with our steel products, and even more so when the need for timber architraves is removed. Being 100% recyclable, any scrap steel during production of EZ Concept products is melted down, recycled and diverted from landfill.
Simply Sophisticated
The gentle curves and lighting throughout the family home brings Jamie’s design aspirations to life. The subtlety of the EZ Concept range enhanced the merging of indoor and outdoor areas into a single ‘transterior’ space.’ This project disproves the idea that sustainable resources and modern design are complicated and often at the cost of functionality, with EZ Concept products providing simple and achievable solutions. The EzyJamb Inswing (ISD) profile provided unmatched functionality in preserving the continuous clean lines within this project. The unique jamb profile ensured this aesthetic wouldn’t be interrupted with its ability to open into the corresponding room whilst maintaining a flush finish to the open space when closed. The subtle styling of EZ Concept systems provided the backdrop for the stunning brasswork featured on doors, cupboards, tapware and more. In doing so, each room is tied together and a throughline is created within the entire home.

The elimination of architraves from cavity sliders enhanced the flowing elegance of the house. Full height SlideSet Cavity Sliders reaching all the way from floor to ceiling added to the grandeur of the home. At a staggering 3.4 metres, both the cavity sliding system and door required a custom touch. Well versed in providing custom options, EZ Concept were prepared to handle this challenge. Both systems and doors accommodated the scales of these designs ensuring quality in functionality, aesthetic and durability. The size of these internal openings paired with the external openings within the area of the home leads to breathtaking views of the native based garden and natural landscape.

Jamie’s unrivalled eye for detail led him to select AluBase Shadowline skirting for his home. The removal of timber skirting again proved to be both an aesthetic and sustainable option. The shadowline detailing of the skirting provided a subtle architectural styling through rooms and open spaces within the home. Replacing timber with aluminium skirting elevated the long hallways and rooms, adding modern flair without taking attention away from the custom artwork lining the space.
